Trier, the oldest city in Germany

Trier, the oldest city in Germany

Trier is a city located on the banks of the Moselle river in Germany. It is found near the Luxembourg border to the west of Germany. The city, which is also known as Treves, was founded 4 centuries BCE, making it the oldest city in Germany. As you can expect, Trier is home to various landmarks, which are a testimony to its rich past.

About Germany

There are so many sights and landmarks in Trier, that is it hard to list all of them in this page. The ones not to be missed are the Porta Nigra, which was built by the Romans 180 CE, the Trier Cathedral, the Roman Imperial Throne room, the Imperial Baths, the Main Market (Hauptmarkt), and the Palace Garden.
