Rail Europe Announces Commercial Management Team

White Plains New York, Jan 7th 2009 – Rail Europe the North American leader in European rail travel for over 75 years rings in the New Year with an announcement regarding its Commercial Management Team. Duncan Still, Rail Europe’s Chief Commercial Officer says “I am very excited to announce these promotions. Each person brings a depth of industry knowledge and experience to their new positions.”

According to the new structure, Duncan Still will have the following direct reports: Vice President E-Business, Vice President Business Development, Vice President of Operations, Vice President Project & Process Management, Vice President Sales, Director of Marketing and Director of Products.

Fred Buhr is Rail Europe’s Vice President of E-Business. He began his career with Rail Europe in 2000 to start up EuroVacations.com and in 2003, became Rail Europe’s Director of Online Marketing. Fred was recently promoted to his current position and manages the company’s online business. His previous experience in the online travel industry involves creating one of the first full service online travel agency in Europe.

Jean Heger has been appointed Vice President of Business Development. Jean joined Rail Europe in 1984 and has worked across a range of positions including inside sales, regional sales and more recently as Vice President of Sales & Product, managing both the National Sales Team and the Product Development Team. In her new role, Jean will continue to oversee the company’s relationships with rail suppliers, while also developing new business and partnership opportunities beyond Rail Europe’s current product portfolio.

Ludy Reyna has been appointed Vice President of Operations. Ludy began her career in the travel industry with Reservations Control Inc in 1988 and began working for Rail Europe in 2003. Her previous positions with Rail Europe include Customer Service Supervisor and most recently, Director of Operations. Based in the Rosemont IL office, she now manages the company’s Contact Center with a staff of approx 70.

Nadia Khris-Arnal has been appointed Vice President of Project and Process Management. Her career was launched as a Key Account Manager at Procter and Gamble in 1998. She joined the French National Railroads in Paris in 2000 where her responsibilities included marketing and project management. Nadia joined Rail Europe in 2006 as Director of the Group Department. In her new role, Nadia will be involved in the company’s long term commercial planning. 

Peter Rahaman has been appointed Vice President of Sales. He joined Rail Europe in 2005, as Vice President of Operations. In his new capacity as Vice President of Sales, Peter will manage the company’s Sales Division and Group and Customer Relations Departments. Peter’s extensive travel industry experience includes managing accounts such as TWA, Cunard Cruises and SAS for Travellers International in Europe and the US. Most recently he worked for Visit Britain’s New York based office and was responsible for building its North American Call Center.

Beth De Marte, Director of Marketing for Rail Europe has recently had her role expanded and in her new capacity she will assume overall responsibility for the entire Marketing Department. Beth joined Rail Europe in 2004 where she held positions as Marketing Manager and Director of Marketing Projects. Beth's sixteen year marketing career has included positions at Standard & Poor's (A Division of the Mc-Graw-Hill Companies), IBM and Tauck World Discovery.

Simone Ruf, Director of Products will report directly to Rail Europe’s Chief Commercial Officer under the company’s new management structure. Simone began her career in 1993 as a Sales Specialist with Hertz Rent a Car. She joined Rail Europe in 1998 as the Area Sales Manager for NY/NJ and then moved on to cover the New England region. Her current position as Director of Products involves management of Rail Europe’s product line and commercial system developments.

Fred Spagnuolo was recently promoted to the position of Director of Groups. Fred began his career with Rail Europe in 1994 where he worked in the company’s Corporate Travel division. He has been involved in the Group division of Rail Europe since 2003 and his new position involves leading a team of 10 Group travel experts.

Tim Galloway, Business Development Manager for the Southwest region has been a long serving employee of Rail Europe. Tim joined the company in 1987 and during a 19 year stint, held Sales Manager positions covering the west coast and then Minnesota. In 2006 Tim was promoted to the position of Sales Project Manager. In his new position based in San Diego, Tim will be instrumental in reaching out to the trade in this region and strengthening Rail Europe’s market share.
