See Pompeii on a day trip from Rome!
See Pompeii on a day trip from Rome!

This tour was amazing! Pompeii was so interesting and our guide (unfortunately I can and #39;t remember his name) was so informative and passionate about Ancient Rome. The trip along the amalfi coast was incredible, such beautiful coastline and picturesque towns! Would highly recommend this trip!!

I was so glad that I took this tour! First, I loved that we were a small group 5 people and were picked up/dropped off at the hotel - that was super convenient. I loved the Pompeii tour, although it might be a little less rushed if it was 2.5 hours, not 2 - the guide was very knowledgeable, but had to rush us through the tour as the site was so big. Then I'm so glad we could see the Amalfi coast - it was just beautiful and the recommended restaurant that we had lunch at, Chez Black, was very scenic and the food and atmosphere was excellent! We stopped at both Positano and Amalfi, which allowed us to do a little walking around and shopping before returning to Rome. This trip was in early March, off season for this area which was nice....I can't imagine how crowded it would be in the summer. Highly recommend this trip!

Awesome day trip from Rome. Khan was our driver for the day and we enjoyed his knowledge of the area. Our tour quide in Pompeii was a 3rd generation Pompeii tour guide and showed us the best of Pompeii.

We were picked up at our hotel at about 7am and joined 5 other people in the van a total of 7 plus the driver. Our driver was friendly but did not speak much English so the ride was pretty quiet. We stopped at a rest stop after about 1 hour for a bathroom break and a quick breakfast pay on your own. Took about 2 hrs total to get to Pompeii. Met an English speaking guide there ad covered a lot of ground during our approx. 2 hr tour I recommend that you wear good walking shoes!. The history is fascinating and brought to life on the tour. Not much in the way of free time to wander around at this location - tour guide moved quickly. Okay for us, but some in the group wished for more time.
The drive to Sorrento, Positano, and the Amalfi Coast was beautiful. As other reviews have stated, the road is very curvy with only 1 lane each way so the drive takes a bit of time but it is very scenic. We stopped at several overlooks and were able to take pictures along the way. Ate lunch in Positano down at the beach level. The slow service at the suggested restaurant prevented us from having time to walk around in the town but it was still well worth the stop. We had about an hour to walk around at the Amalfi Coast and that was enough time to take some pictures, put our toes in the water on the beach, and to get a delicious gelato. I highly recommend the lemon flavored gelato - so good! The ride back to Rome from there took about 4.5 hours - we got back to our hotel at around 9pm.
Long day? Yes.
Would we do it again? Definitely!

The small group worked out great. We were picked up in a Mercedes van in front of our accommodations and driven directly to Pompeii. The Pompeii guide was amazing and very knowledgeable. The rest of the day visiting the Amalfi coast was breath taking . We Saw so much in such a short amount of time!

Khan our driver was amazing!!! He did such a great job keeping everyone comfortable during the long and winding drive along the coast. Our Pompeii tour guide was wonderful and funny. Pompeii is much larger then we realized. I would highly recommend this tour, my husband and I had a great day.

Amazing day trip! Be aware of the windy roads if you are prone to motion sickness, but so worth it. We went Feb 4 so there was very few visitors in Pompeii and Positano and Amalfi making for a very enjoyable experience. Khan was our driver and guide and he was great! Funny too!

Excellent tour. Long drive but well worth the sites. If you can, visit the Limoncello factory!

We had a very nice small group, and fit comfortably into the minivan. Pompeii was crowded, but because it is so large, it was not uncomfortably so. It was fascinating, and well worth seeing. The guide was very informative, and we really felt we learned a lot about what life was like before the eruption, and also what the magnitude of the eruptions were there were two - a lot of people left after the first one, but many stayed, and they were killed by the second one. The drive down the Amalfi Coast was scenic and, at points, hair-raising. We had an excellent lunch in a cafe on the beach at Positano. We stopped in Amalfi on the way back and had a coffee and dessert. The light was fading, and the Christmas lights were on, as well as the town lights, so it was really magical. The drive back to Rome was long, as the traffic was bad, and there are no real alternative routes. It was a long day, but a very enjoyable one.

Beautiful drive down the coast and an AMAZING tour of Pompeii! One of my favorite tours on the trip since it was so informative and with a heavy emphasis on Roman civil engineering. Highly recommend.

Our trip to the Amalfi Coast was amazing. Our driver was Roberto and he was great. He was early, for our pickup we were first but he said he would wait until the actual pickup time to give us a little time to grab something to eat crucial for the long trip. We picked up other people in quick order and we were off. Our other van mates didn't really seem to be interested in chatting or sharing conversation so my friend and I ended up talking a lot with Roberto, which was great. He knew so much! We did have a pit stop before going to Pompei and that was fantastic. I had never been to Pompei, and actually didn't really ever have a desire to go. So glad we went!!! It was interesting and our tour guide, Gaetano, was such a pro! After that, a stop in Sorrento and then lunch in Positano....GREAT! A stop in Amalfi after was such a treat. There was a band that was walking through the streets and it was such an amazing experience.

Yes, the ride is long but it was well worth it. If you want to break up the drive, I suppose a night in Positano or a neighboring town would be a option, but if you only have a day do this! You don't have to drive so you can sleep on the way back!

Roberto, our guide and driver, was great! Drove us quickly to Pompeii and handed us over to Gaetano, the local guide. He took us all over the ruins and shared a lot of information with us. Afterwards, Roberto took us to Amalfi. The roads were long and winding but Roberto did not have any problems at all. We definitely recommend this tour from Rome.
