  • Day 1: Lucerne–Interlaken–Montreux
  • Day 2: Montreux–Martigny–Zermatt
  • Day 3: Zermatt–St Moritz
  • Day 4: St Moritz–Lugano–Lucerne

Day 1:

Lucerne–Interlaken–Montreux

Your day starts in lovely Lucerne, the gateway to central Switzerland. Take the beautiful GoldenPass train over the Brünig Pass to Interlaken. Once in Interlaken, consider a side-trip to Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe: a sparkling snow and ice wonderland accessed through the highest altitude railway station in Europe. Continue on train through the scenic Simme Valley to Montreux on Lake Geneva.

Day 2:

Montreux–Martigny–Zermatt

Before leaving Montreux, stop by Chillon Castle to see Switzerland’s most popular historic building. Next, it’s off to Martigny -- the gateway to Great St Bernard and Forclaz Pass. Continue on via Brig to Zermatt. Once in Zermatt, Gornergrat is waiting -- take a century-old cog railway to the finest views of the Matterhorn and a vista that includes 29 sky-high peaks.

Day 3:

Zermatt–St Moritz

This legendary stretch includes a ride on the Glacier Express from the Matterhorn village traveling through Chur, Switzerland’s oldest city, before arriving at St Moritz. Its hundreds of serpentine turns and mountain tunnels at 3-6,000 feet are a photographers dream.

Day 4:

St Moritz–Lugano–Lucerne

The trip between St Moritz and Lugano is nothing short of breathtaking. Take the Bernina Express train and enjoy the picturesque route from large panoramic windows. During the summer months, continue your journey to Tirano on the Bernina Express bus. While you’re in Switzerland’s sunny south, consider a nearby excursion on the Centovalli Express train line from Locarno to Domodossola, Italy. Alternately, board the Wilhelm Tell Express, a 5-hour trip from Lugano to Lucerne that starts with scenic train ride before connecting to a spectacular 2.5-hour Lake Lucerne steamer boat ride.
