Delivery Options and Fees

  • What fees does Rail Europe charge?

    Rail Europe charges different types of fees for the service we provide. These fees are waived under certain circumstances. Below is a list of the fees we charge:
    • The Contact Center Fee: this fee is charged only when bookings are made over the phone through our Contact Center.
    • The Shipping and Handling Fee: this fee is charged for any booking made on our website or through our Contact Center that involves a physical shipment. This fee covers the processing of your booking as well as the shipping of your tickets or passes. The shipping and handling fee for regular United States delivery is $18. Tickets are sent via United Parcel Service (UPS) and arrive within 2-3 business days from when your booking is processed. Rail Europe also offers express overnight delivery in the US for $36. Canadian bookings are $18 Canadian dollars (CAD) for all deliveries. If you’d like your tickets shipped to the Caribbean, Mexico or Central America, a fee of $35 United States dollars (USD) for regular delivery applies. If your booking is over $399 (USD or CAD), the regular Shipping and Handling Fee will be waived and currently all Shipping and Handling fees for Mexican bookings are waived.
    • The Rail Europe Booking Fee: this fee is charged only when booking consist exclusively of e-tickets. It’s charged for booking made on our website or through our Contact Center. If your booking contains both e-tickets and paper documents that must be shipped to you, only the Shipping and Handling Fee will be charged. If your booking is over $399, the Rail Europe Booking Fee will be waived.
    • The Administrative Fee: this fee is charged only for refunds and exchanges. It is 7% of the original ticket or pass price when the refund is done online, or 7% when the exchange or refund is done via our Contact Center.

  • How can I avoid paying fees on my booking?

    If your online booking is over $399 USD, we waive shipping and e-ticket issuance fees. The $399 only applies to rail and excursion products and doesn't include shipping and/or other fees.

    Please note: this waiver is valid for standard, 2-3 business days shipping only. Express overnight shipping will still be an additional cost.


  • Can I choose whether my tickets or rail passes are delivered as paper documents or electronically?

    All available options for how your train tickets, rail passes, and/or reservations can be issued will be presented to you during checkout. On the delivery page, you’ll see each product you’re booking and your options for receiving them. However, please note that rail passes can only be issued as paper documents and mailed to you. Additionally, not all European train tickets can be issued electronically.   • Do you ship to PO and APO boxes?

    We ship packages via UPS and therefore are unable to ship to P.O. or A.P.O. boxes.
